Series 1880 Silver certificates not as rare as the 1878 series but they are still pretty uncommon compared to other large sized notes. The lower the denomination the easier they are to come by. The $10.00 is the lowest denomination issued. These notes are mostly found in low to mid grades so high grade examples are rare and are priced accordingly. Series 1878 notes are countersigned while 1880 notes are not.

With almost 400 notes known to exist this note would seem like it should be available but they just don't come up very often. When they do show up they tend to be middle to lower graded notes. Nice examples are hotly collected. An appraisal on this note should find range of values between $700 for a rag to five figures for an uncirculated example.
There are over 300 known examples of this type note but like the $10 in the series they just aren't very common. A decent lower graded note will run a couple thousand dollars while a really nice mid grade note can bring five figures. A full range of values would be something like $1000 for a zombie to $40000 for an uncirculated example.
If the $10 and the $20 in the series are hard to come by and expensive they pale in comparison to the $50. With fewer than 100 notes available to the collecting fraternity these notes are hard to buy and expensive when you do. You can expect to pay several thousand for any example and fresh mid to upper grade notes will bring mid five figures.
With only about 50 notes known to exist this note is scarce by any measure. I haven't seen one of these on my web site and I've seen most other notes. Any example will bring high thousands to five figures and top graded examples have brought over a quarter of a million.
I wasn't sure if I should even show this note due to the uncollectibility of it. There are only 7 notes known to mankind and three of those are permanently impounded in Federal collections. The last time one traded hands it was in 1998 where a mid grade note brought over a quarter million. This sounds like a lot but the owner of that note is sitting on a note that would sell for a multiple of that now.
Another uncollectible note. There are 5 notes known and three are in Federal collections. The last time one was in 1998 when a Very Fine example brought over $350000.00. A wise investment since a note like that today would command nearly seven figures.
