There were only three Series 1928 denominations issued: $1.00, $2.00 and $5.00 The $2.00 and $5.00 in the series generally common and can be found for as little as 2 times face value. The $1.00 in the series is a different story and it is not common at all. These notes were all issued with stars so there is something to look for.

The 1928 $1.00 bill with a red seal is an interesting case... It is the first small size Legal tender note. They were printed in the early 30's but not released until the late 40's and when they were released, it was in Puerto Rico only. Because they issued a relatively small number of notes and only in a territory, these notes are not common today and even in low grade can be worth nearly $100. Notes in great shape can be worth hundreds and star notes are especially valuable. The bills sport the so called "funnyback" design, nicknamed due to the monopoly-ish design on the back.
The $2.00 in the series is generally common but some rarities do exist in the series. This note came in eight different series, 1928 and then Series A, B, C, D, E, F, and Series 1928-G. Most series of note are common but the Series 1928-B notes are better. Star notes especially so. Star notes on this series are not uncommon but they are still nice to see with grade. A 1928-B star note is a big note and always gets collector attention when they surface.
The 1928 $5.00 bill in the series is more common than the $2.00 note. This note came in the same eight series versions as the $2.00. Oddly, none of the series is particularly rare unlike the $2.00. Star notes on this series are nice to see and can be found without too much trouble.
