Series 1918 Federal Reserve Note

In 1918 a new series of Federal Reserve Notes was released in $500, $1000, $5000 and $10000 Denominations.
These notes are hard to find and will be pricey when found especially if the note has grade.
Even as pricey as these notes are, they are the most reasonable priced large sized high denomination notes.

Series 1918 $500 Federal Reserve Note Blue Seal.

This is a note you don't see very often but it's not terribly uncommon by the numbers. With something like 150 or so known it is a collectible note. Not cheap however. New York and Chicago are the most common districts and can be had in decent shape for 5000 to 8000. A full range of values for this note would be from 3000 to mid five figures for a flawless example.

Series 1918 $1000 Federal Reserve Note Blue Seal.

The $1000 in the series is about as common as the $500 with about 150 known. One interesting feature of the note is that it's the most common by far from San Francisco. This is unlike entire rest of the Federal Reserve note series. I am not sure why the San Francisco Fed needed so many 1k notes but there must be a back story. A range of estimates for this note would fall between 6000 for a zombie to 70000 for a perfect example.

Series 1918 $5000 Federal Reserve Note Blue Seal.

The $5000 in this series is incredibly rare with only five notes known. I was not able to find a suitable image. If you have one of these laying around the house please send me an image and a price. It seems that all known examples are sitting in Federal Collections making the note impossible to collect.

Series 1918 $10000 Federal Reserve Note Blue Seal.

The $10000 in this series is known in the exact same number as the $5000. Here again, I was not able to find a suitable image for display. All known notes are sitting in Federal collections.
