Frequently Asked Questions For the Rare Currency Collector

This is a place where I will answer some of the questions that I had when I started collecting.
It's a big hobby with millions of facets and if I can provide clarity for some part of that I will be happy to try.

Question: I just inherited a currency collection and I would like to know what notes are valuable?
This is a question I get several times a day.
When you have been given a bunch of notes it's only natural to wonder which notes are "good".
In other words, which notes have value. This is a large enough topic that I have created a page for it.
Click here to check it out: What Notes are Valuable.

Question: I have heard that some notes have stars on them. Is this true and if so, why??
Answer: It's true! About 1% of all notes have a star on them. These are formally known as Replacement notes.
The reason for these notes and some information about their values can be found on this page: Star Note Value and Information

Question: Is it true that US paper money used to be larger than what we use today?
Answer: Yes, currency used to be 40% larger than what we use today.
For more information check out this page where you can see the two together and learn about large currency.
