The Federal Reserve Act passed in 1913 gave us the Federal Reserve Note. The Federal Reserve Notes were printed in Washington and distributed to the twelve Federal Reserve banks. A 1914 Federal Reserve Note will feature a district seal at the left that indicate the Federal Reserve Bank for which the note was issued. There were 12 Federal Districts and they were all issued notes. Because each district was issued Series 1914 notes these are often collected in district sets. Dallas, San Francisco and Minneapolis are generally the scarcest.
